But
those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

Growing Growing Growing
Our salesman, Michael Carter has been hard at work contacting prospective customers, filling out rate quotes, going to customer meetings and seeking new customers that fit our business. We are currently seeing some increased business from Ben E Keith, McCains, U S Foodservice, Palo Duro Meat and will soon have some new business from Chiquita that will start January 28th. This will be in the processed vegetable business they have. We have several more big accounts in the process that will bring more freight by June. While others talk about slow freight we are doing something about it. Baldwin will not have a slow year! In fact the last half of 2007 our volumes were 9% to 20% higher than 2006.
If you have any prospects that you feel would be good for our business, please forward that to Michael Carter to follow up on. Michael@baldwin-dist.com.
Our Fleet
Currently we are operating 122 tractors consisting of 40 company trucks, 7 owner operators and 75 lease purchase operators! We have 198 refrigerated trailers. 129 of them are fifty three feet long. Nineteen of these have rear liftgates. We have 69 forty eight foot trailers. Ten of these are meat railers. All of our trailers are air ride. I am trying to find a way to replace all of our 48 foot trailers this year. When I am successful it will mean the end of twenty five years of hauling swinging meat for Baldwin Distribution.
DOT Safety
Inspection Program
Effective January 1, 2008 we began paying $100 for each clear DOT inspection you receive. This will continue until June 30, 2008. After you get five clear inspections in this period we will begin to pay $200 each for the next five clear inspections. After the eleven clear inspections we will pay $300 each for all you can get by the end of June! This applies to company drivers and lease operators. We want everyone to be concious of their equipment, logs and safety! Be sure everything is in order and request an inspection as you have time. Its a great way to make extra money and pleasantly meet the DOT.
Paperwork
Please fill out all of your paperwork legibily. Then drop it in TripPak after each load. Do NOT hold them until the end of the pay period. Cutoff for employees and lease operators is noon Monday to turn in the actual envelope. You can scan them until Monday midnight. All times are Central time. You must still turn in the trip envelope and bills even if you scanned them in. Texas law requires the original paperwork. If you want any trips held to go on the next paycheck, please just let Christal know and she can hold them. Don’t hold your envelopes.
Elections - do they matter?
Do not take lightly our freedom to elect our president and representatives. It matters greatly! We all have had relatives who gave their lives for our right to be a free republic! Participate in this year’s primary and elections and make your voice heard. Be educated and look for the person who will best take care of our whole country and not just your personal interests alone.
